Growing up taking piano lessons, I gained a balanced education of musical theory and history. I learned an array of songs on piano ranging from “Fleur De Lis” by Beethoven, to “Someone Like You” by Adele, “Piano Man” by Billy Joel and even “Bennie and the Jets“ by Elton John. I worked my way up from the bottom; from learning how to simultaneously play with both hands, to being able to play Tchaikovsky (nineteenth century Russian composer… Think “Swan Lake”). My musical past nurtured my current adoration of pursuing the industry. I’m constantly searching for concerts to attend and you will, without a doubt, see me at every house show in Eugene, Oregon. Alongside my passion for live music, I have a mild addiction to collecting records. I was given my first electronic record player at 15 years old and the curation of my collection of vinyls hasn’t stopped growing. Just as The Smiths said in their 1986 album, The Queen is Dead, “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.” That light is my appreciation for music in all forms.
Anna Walters is currently a University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication student studying Public Relations. Aspiring to be involved in media marketing, she hopes to pursue a career in the music industry. Her public relations skills developed greatly during her participation in UO’s study abroad program for advertising and public relations in Spain. Walters facilitated the cultivation of a rebrand campaign for a local winery along-side a team of fellow students.
She is currently working in the non-profit industry with UO’s University Advancement. At Advancement, Walters manages social media for UO Alumni and aims to increase engagement across all platforms. Walters also works part-time doing photography for Align, a student-run arts and culture magazine. Her creative side is revealed in this position, as she is surrounded by an artistic community.
Growing up playing the piano and being immersed in a musical community gifted Walters with an enthusiasm for the music industry. In the future she aims to pursue a career involving music marketing or work for a production label
